The Easiest Way to Get from Bali Airport to Uluwatu

Why Airport Transfers Are the Best Option
Let’s break down the other options for getting to your hotel so you can see exactly why a private transfer is the best way to get from the airport to your first Bali accommodation!
Airport Taxi
The benefits of taking an airport taxi from Denpasar airport is that you’ll have your own, private transport — always a nice thing after a long flight!
However, you’ll want to be aware that there are several taxi scams around Bali, so if you decide to hail one, make sure that you use the Blue Bird Taxi option (or go for their nicer, larger cars, Golden Bird Taxi).
Hotel Pickup
These pickups are booked directly with your hotel. You’ll give them your flight information, and the hotel will send a driver to wait for you in arrivals and bring you to your accommodation.
This can be a good, no-hassle option, but it tends to be one of the priciest options.
Plus, the pick ups aren’t always private transfers, which may mean you have to wait at the airport for other hotel guests to arrive before you can head out on your way.
And with how congested the traffic in Bali can be, it’s better to get on your way sooner rather than later so you can enjoy what is left of your travel day!
Grab or Gojek Ride Share
I loved using Grab and Gojek ride shares to get around the island by scooter, and they definitely can be a good option if you forget to book a transfer in advance!
Just make sure you are booking a car ride share if you have luggage and head to the correct waiting area.
A few things to note if you choose this option:
- There will be an additional fee for using a ride share since these drivers have to pay to enter and exit the airport
- You may encounter some pushy drivers trying to fill their cars as you make your way to the waiting area. If you aren’t comfortable saying no or ignoring them, this may not be the best option for you.
- Because these options work like Uber and Lyft, pricing changes based on supply and demand. You won’t know the exact cost until you order your ride share.
Car Rental
I’d highly advise against renting a car in Bali.
While it can be nice to have the flexibility of your own transportation, the traffic can be absolutely horrendous and exhausting to sit in.
Plus, way the traffic moves is very different from the US — you drive on the left side of the road and will have scooters zipping in and out of the lanes — which can make this a super stressful experience.
It’s much better to hire a local driver who is familiar with the roads and traffic patterns and be able to relax in the back of the car!
Private Transfer Via Klook
My personal pick for how to get from the Bali airport to Uluwatu is booking a private transfer via Klook!
Prices are fixed and very reasonable — we paid less than $10 USD for our private transfer — without any haggling or pushiness involved!
Plus, it’s a very smooth process.
Once you leave Customs, you make your way to the Klook Cafe and give them your reservation information. The employees will contact your driver and within a few minutes, you’ll be on your way directly to your hotel.
Most of the companies offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before your pick-up, so if your plans change, you can easily adjust your transfer!
Plus, you’ll have an English speaking driver so you’ll be able to communicate easily… and maybe even ask them for recommendations! If you prefer a different language, you can filter for that as well!

My Experience with Klook Airport Transfer
I personally booked Klook airport transfers twice during my own trip to Bali, and I think that they are the least stressful way to start a trip in Bali!
The booking process was seamless. I simply inputted my hotel’s address, my expected arrival time, and picked the best-rated transfer — most of the options are rated over 4.5 โญ๏ธ! I loved that Klook provided me with a clear pricing for my transfer.
Then I inputted my flight details: this was great because the driver knew exactly when we arrived, so we didn’t get charged for any additional waiting time.

Once we cleared immigration, we followed the instructions provided by Klook to find the waiting area, “Klook Cafe” — it’s right inside the terminal and super easy to find! The employees took our reservation information and within a few minutes, our driver picked us up from the Cafe.
The car was clean and well air-conditioned: a necessity after the immediate assault of Bali heat and humidity.
Despite the typical Bali traffic, we had a really smooth experience and our driver dropped us off right at our hotel! It was safe and easy, and truly the best way to get from the Bali airport to Uluwatu (or anywhere else on the island)!
